Who are you?

Some years ago, my preferences on what I would "like to" or "choose to" do have given way to what I perceive as duty.

2009-:

[1] CYBERHIPPIETOTALISM / HACKBASES <=>
    a living/subsistence platform, providing hackers, theorists and artists a short or long-term place to live and work. CHT#1 (Lanzarote, Canarias, Spain) established late 2011, over 150 residents so far. Space presents unique problems in sociodynamics, basic infrastructure, resource management, etc, and is a playground for everything from sensor networks to molecular gastronomy. http://totalism.org/

[2] MIDDLEMACHINE <=>
    an intelligent Ideation-Execution-Publication platform Software project: ubiquitous idea capture.

***Why are you interested in OpenCon? [CHT statement / #goals]

To prevent a planet-scale disaster (ecocide, genocides), I believe it is essential to:

    * rethink the scientific method - with the 4 Opens above as integral parts. Build a new data-driven "consistent & consequential" science-politics, influenced as much by systems theory as hypermedia.

    * develop new representational systems: really and finally capitalize on the potentials of hypermedia. Externalizing the mental models, distance learning, integral curriculums, etc
     <---- http://totalism.org/http://totalism.org/representation.systems

    * Replace basic "text" as the primary substrate under our research, communication, and coordination.
    <--- http://totalism.org/text

    * rethink our production/distribution systems, our supply chains, etc - towards post-capitalism.
    <--- http://totalism.org project itself !

    * share some good data! :-)

***What are your ideas for advancing Open Access, Open Education and/or Open Data? [#opendata !!!]

* Going beyond sole openness:
    We need to build better knowledge management and representation systems. We need to out-conceptualize and out-construct the old-world solutions. (This is the "middlemachine" project out of my two).

* Bold steps in time of urgency:
    Bootstrap existing data, to establish broad consensus we are in a crisis. Immediately and completely forego factors holding us back - including closed science, platform capitalist enterprises, etc. Open this as political decision fields, and assist building new politics. Use opportunities (like OpenCon!) to exchange opinions, and strategise pragmatic steps.

* Build better tools to think:
    Then use these tools to develop better tools. Measure success by level of total integration (of data, knowledge, human perspectives).

* Data is hard labour! I love to throw data around. I make lists and systematics. The complete CHT website is open-editable. I'd like to have better tools, and continue the labor to curate all of what we have.

For the events you checked, briefly explain what you did or plan to do.
I cannot recall if it was exactly Open Data Day ... But it was with FSF Europe. We got some promotion materials by them and posted them around the island (where my lab is). We found some people and organised an informal get together, and also organized a LibreOffice themed bash, just trying to document as much of our parameters in a numeric way. A lot of that has helped us to make "informed decisions" in the future of our organisation, so it was good practice. Thanks for pointing those out by the way! I will add them to totalism.org/calendar

I really think we should use Etherpads for everything, and augment them with this simple and effective tool we've developed at CHT: http://e2h.middlemachine.com Thank you for considering my application.
